How to Prepare Screenshots for Google Play

Choose real captures, use appropriate dimensions, and prepare an accurate screenshot set for a Google Play store listing.

Capture the current experience

Use screens from the current Android build, focused on the core features users will encounter. Remove incidental notifications and avoid showing device interactions unless the off-device action is central to the app experience.

Do not use screenshots to imply unavailable features, unverified performance claims, or pricing and ranking messages.

Know the baseline requirements

Google Play currently accepts JPEG or 24-bit PNG screenshots without alpha, with a minimum dimension of 320 px and a maximum of 3840 px. The longest side cannot exceed twice the shortest side.

Recommendations and device categories have additional guidance. Check the official Play Console page for the latest device-specific requirements before export.

Compose with restraint

A short headline can add context, but UI should remain the primary subject. Keep added text readable, use a consistent layout across the set, and test the visual hierarchy at small display sizes.

Google Play requirements can change. Verify current details in the official Play Console preview-assets guidance and in your Play Console before publishing.
